Kickass Cupcakes, Boston’s original cupcake bakery and winner of The Boston Globe 2009 reader’s poll for "Best Cupcake” in Boston, is celebrating their two year anniversary this month with a month long cupcake creation contest.
Kickass Cupcakes is hosting a month-long cupcake competition during October for all fans of Kickass Cupcakes. Contest participants can submit their original creations at the bakery, or submit entries online by becoming a registered fan of Kickass Cupcakes on Facebook. At the end of the month Kick*ss Cupcakes will select two lucky winners, who will see their own original flavor on the bakery’s menu AND receive free cupcakes for a year (**see rules below)! Meet the woman behid the cupcakes: Sara Ross
After moving to Boston two years ago from Santa Monica, California, Sara wanted to find a new outlet to visually express her individual, artistic style. Her passion for baking, perfected by her sweet-tooth, led her to open the Kick*ss Cupcake bakery in the Fall of 2007. Sara states, “I love food and I love to cook. Cooking allows me to visually express myself and share my passion with others. When I travel, the spots I visit first are always food related – restaurants, gourmet stores, bakeries – and I thought Boston was in need of some cupcake love.” After all, cupcakes were the word on everyone’s lips in both California and New York, and Sara felt Boston’s unique Somerville neighborhood would be the perfect fit for her unique and edgy creations.

So what makes Sara’s cupcakes Kickass? Kickass Cupcakes do not look or taste like the traditional cupcakes you find at the local bakery or grocery store. In true artisanal fashion, all cupcakes are baked daily, in-house from scratch, in small batches and hand decorated. In addition to the time and care spent on each individual cupcake, the bakery uses only the best all-natural, local ingredients and lots of Plugra butter (insuring a richer taste and smoother texture). There are no hydrogenated oils, trans-fats, artificial flavors, dyes or preservatives to guarantee the utmost flavor for your enjoyment!
Throughout the year Kickass Cupcakes’ menu features different flavors that always leave you craving more. Currently on the menu guests can find Limited Edition flavors such as: Creme Brulée, Blueberry Cobbler, Chocolate Malted Milkshake (Sara’s favorite) and Chocolate Oink – a chocolate maple cupcake topped with candied bacon. Sara is also well known for her menu’s original house specialties with flavors like Super Chocolate, Classic Vanilla, and Mojito. If you want to send some sugar, Kickass offers delivery service in the Greater Boston Area and beyond!

Winners will need to pickup at the store, or “call to arrange for local delivery (local delivery charges apply, 48 hours notice required)". Winner will receive one dozen cupcakes per month for one year (12 months). Cupcakes are regular size cupcakes that are featured on the menu (no special orders). Prize has no cash value and is not redeemable for cash. Prize is not transferable. Kick*ss Cupcakes and Sara Ross reserves all rights for use of the winning cupcake creations as they see fit.
