Welcoming
Remarks will be given by Gerardo Villacres, Director/Editor of El
Planeta and Managing Partner of Ultra–Linx Marketing Group LLC. Gerardo
Villacres, with extensive civic involvement in the community, is a
board member of the Cambridge Center and an overseer of the Museum of
Fine Arts in Boston. He is an advisor of many other non–for–profit
organizations, and is a trustee at Bunker Hill Community College.
Before coming to the Boston area, he worked at CBS in New York for 20
years and was Manager of the CBS Hispanic Radio Network. Gerardo
Villacres has received many international, national and local awards
for his work and involvement in the community.
The last day of the
seminar/conference will have a Keynote Address by Ilan Stavans, the
Lewis–Sebring Professor of Latin American and Latino Cultures at
Amherst College. He is editor–in–chief of the four–volume Encyclopedia
Latina: History, Culture, and Society in the United States and author
of the Hispanic Condition and Spanglish, among many other publications.
All sessions will have three panelists, and will be moderated by
Gerardo Villacres and Dr. Luisa Medrano. Closing remarks the last day,
May 8 at 9:30 pm, will be made by Jim Smith, Executive Director of The
Cambridge Center. Closing remarks will give an opportunity for all
those who attend the conference to share what they learned. A closing
reception will then follow from 10 to 10:30 pm on May 8. For a complete
