Health and Family the Event

The largest annual health and wellness Hispanic and multicultural event bringing hospitals, health-related organizations, financial institutions, cultural organizations and entertainment under the roof of the Agganis Arena.

We invite you to join us at Health and Family/Salud y Familia 2009, the largest multicultural health event in the region.

Hispanic News Press (HNP), publisher of El Planeta and Health and Family Bilingual Quarterly, since its inception has had a commitment to link health and community service providers with the Hispanic community. In 2006, HNP launched its first wellness event at Agganis Arena, Boston. The event featured not only health screenings and information, but also brought family entertainment and cultural outlets to the community in a way that was fun for the entire family. The title sponsor at this event was Massachusetts General Hospital and Univision along with 40 wellness and community sponsors participated in this free to the public event. It was a success that attracted over 3,500 people. In 2007, Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus, with their youth fitness program Circus Fit, along with Boston Medical Center/Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan were title sponsors and 60 other sponsors drew an estimated 5,000 people to the Arena. Our sponsors have found the event a great opportunity to interact with the community in a personal way. Ninety percent of those who participated in 2006 actually returned in 2007. To quote a staffer from Boston Medical Center/Health Net Plan:

“… this is a great event and we returned in a bigger way as we got good traffic and got to talk to people about health …”

“Salud y Familia is a fantastic way to align your brand with core family values in the Latino community, as well as reach a relatively untapped, yet powerful, Boston market demographic.”

We held the event in 2008 on Sunday Sept. 28 and Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey became a title entertainment sponsor again. Massachusetts General Hospital was once again the title hospital sponsor.
